So all of my Soom orders arrived at least a month ago. Was funny though, Amber was last to arrive and I was less than impressed. Poor gal sat, actually still sits in a corner because I like her head, horns bottom of her hooves but nothing between. Her fawn legs are horrible! Yes they look great when you can get her to stand but she can't sit at all. And they will not do a straight exchange with my Culprit's hooves, they are much too massive. I actually bought a pair of Heliot hooves to see if I can swap them out. If they do work, I will either need to make her a boy or get a pair of Cuprit hooves and swap the top out. Ick, expensive though. Why couldn't Soom make her with the more mobile hooves to begin with?

Culprit actually was the second to arrive and it was love at first sight. She's beautiful, with or without a faceup. And her hooves are really nice. They are sprayed white to match her skintone at the top of the blue section and some has scratched off, but it's alot easier to deal with than blushing at the bottom like my Gloti. Only little complaint I have with her is mostly her outfit. Seeing her thong in the front is a bit much. Wings where ok, except for the fake fur along the top but I'm not going to use them; up for sale they go.

I gave her a face-up and was going to blush her body but the weather turned before I got the chance. The weekend I planned to completed started great; was fairly warm with just a bit of a nip in the wind. I spent all Saturday afternoon sanding off her seams in preparation. But come Sunday it was raining hard and chilly out! It was like someone had thrown a gaint switch that flipped the weather from summer to fall. Poor gal will need to wait until next spring to get finished but at least she has a face.

Camache, my Gloti has a face-up and has his hooves blushed. But the hooves started scratching and chipping off the moment I had him strung together. Annoying but at least I did it myself and can redo it. I'm gonna have to redo it anyways, he needs to be blue instead of yellow/brown.
Amber is growing on me now that I gave her a face-up. I lucked out in that I got one warm weekend day after I'd put Cuprit back together. Tried to keep it nuetral in case I make her a boy over the winter but it just didn't quite work out that way.

On the non-dollie side of my life I'm picking up embroidery to embellish some of my costumes. Doing a practice project that I found a pattern for in my Mom's stitch bin. It was actually an iron on pattern, which made it really easy to set everything up. But after hours of stitching I've only filled in one leaf! I know I'll get faster the more I sew but it's still frustrating. I also need to figure out what other stitches I need to practice and where in the design they will look good. The project I'm doing this for is my next Lolita dress. I'm converting a dress I got at Superstore for 5 bucks. Need to add a ruffle around the bottom since it's a bit short; lace around the sleeves and embroidery at the waist. I would use my sewing machine but it's not great at doing assymetric designs that are the proper size. Most of it's stitches are either too small for my use or too big for the dolls. It is a lot quicker and easier than hand sewing though.

Why Soom, why?

  • Apr. 15th, 2009 at 8:38 AM

Soom's been very bad for me of late. I have an Amber, Gloti and now a Cuprit on layaway. They just had to release three dolls in a row that have lovely faces and hooves. Hopefully their next one doesn't have bird feet or I'm really doomed. >.<

Edit: Gah, came back from sandbagging on Scotia St and my arms were like rubber. I don't want to think how they will be tomorrow.   Crappy river system decides now 'oh hey, nice weather.  Think I'll swell faster and higher than predicted'  Makes me nervous and ticked off when people complain about them changing the forecast.   Um, it's weather  -_- That's what it likes to do; change.  At least the government is keeping us informed about what they think will happen and what they (and what we) can do to mediate the situation.  Although I did think it was a bit of short notice to ask for volunteers last night for today.

Working on Taking Pictures

  • Apr. 5th, 2009 at 10:48 AM

These pics are from a while back, but meaning to post them for a while now.  Was fooling around with two 500 watt worklights that my Dad had lying around.  Tried a couple of different ways to point them, but found my best pics were when I was reflecting both of my white ceiling.  There are more in my photobucket, but here are some of the ones that I felt really turned out looking good.

I'm Glad it's Spring

  • Mar. 17th, 2009 at 11:07 AM

Was dusting off the dolls today when I noticed my oldest gal, Verthandi, has a chip in her lip colour. I look closer, touch it and another flake comes off! It looks like when I added gloss to her lips, it went on too thick and is now cracking off, taking the colour with it. So she needs a new face-up very soon, if the weather decides to get warm again. Hopefully I can make her as gothic as she is now; her first face-up was much lighter and gave her a very innocent look. I'm just glad I did her face-up, if Rokku's or Levi's goes, I'm gonna have to decide if I want to send them back to who did their face-ups or try to do it on my own. >.

The Doll Plans Expand...

  • Mar. 15th, 2009 at 9:09 PM

Well, I've been double Soomed. Just put in an order for a Glati, because I love hooves that much. ^.^ And to tempt me as well, Feeple just announced that they will be doing chocolate skin for pukis--just what one of my characters needs.

So, new doll plans are:

Amber--waiting for, going to be my draenei girls' goddess
Glati--waiting for, kid for draenei
SD Chii minimee--joined in the group, probably will get a DIM body for her
SD Rabbit gal minimee(always forget her name)--joined in the group, going to try a Feeple body for her
Mini Ed from FMA minimee--joined group, going to try a minifee active body. Not sure if he should have muscles or not yet.
2 Mini Draenei gals--because I'd love to try making my WoW chars
2 puki, 1 chocolate, 1 NS--because you can never just have one. Already waiting for eyes for these guys. The chocolate guy shall have red eyes, would just need to find him red hair.

Was also thinking of getting a couple of minifee, but I think it will be a long while until I do that. There are a couple of Anime cons I'd like to go and cosplay at this year.

I'm noticing I really like girl dolls. Hope my big girls don't mind not having any males their size around for a while. If a deal comes up I might get a random big boy, but with all the big guys in the city, I hope people won't mind taking pics with my girls when I finally get them.

I've been Soomed... >.

Well, I finally gave in and got a new big doll. Soom's latest monthly, Amber. Not too sure about her head and lack of swivel joint in her legs but I figure she will be easy to find buyers for if I don't like her. Don't think it will happen though. Already have a Dollheart dress on the way for her plus planning on getting her a purple wig. Sigh, why did she have to have hooves and a non-scary face?

What the hell Volks....

  • Feb. 7th, 2009 at 1:18 PM

Just ordered one of the Dolpa 20 outfits--just one because in the time it took me to pick three items, enter my info and click check-out, two had already sold out! WTF? Seriously, this is not making me like Volks right now. They have an opportunity to make money and they only have a few of each? I mean, I was watching the site, jump on the minute it was available and ordered in less than 5 minutes.  Crazy~  Think I'll go get Dollheart outfits when possible now.  Their website tells you when they don't have any more and they have really nice outfits for $100 or less.

Well, I've been debating it for a while but now I've really been bitten by the big dollie bug.  Got another friend into them and of course, she has ordered a DOI boy to tease me.  That, and DIM's minimee body+ 2 heads for $300 has got me very tempted to get a SD girl.  Plus all the lovely Dollheart outfits she could wear... *drool*

Doll family right now:
Verthadi Rayn - DOC Bee-A
Rokku Hikari - SDC Miko
Zenith/Levi - Unoa Lusis hybrid <-- still can't decide on her name
Axl - L-bi hybrid <-- Needs a flowery or sugary last name
Koume - BC Shy

Doll wishlist:
Two minifee, most likely Carl and Elf Soo
Two Dreanei (demon looking things from WoW) MSD girls; me and my boyfriends characters
An SD couple (Can't have my girl being lonely)
Puki Cupid; I miss mine despite the irratation with the magnets

The minifee are needed to pair up with my two unoa.  The Soo I'm farly sure I want as Axl's girl and might be oriental; won't know until I have her here.  The Carl was supposed to be Zenith, until I got my Lusis.  Might still happen since the Lusis is a pastel/punk kind of girl and looks amasing in blue hair.  Zenith... isn't that.  She's more of a tomboy; sexy but able to wup your butt easily if needed.  The only problem is that would add two more dolls to the list.  Although I could make Zenith and her boyfriend the SD couple.  Though the number of blue eyed characters I'm making is starting to get rediculous.  Zenith eyes are supposed to be blue; the Lusis is keeping her look and Verthandi has dark blue eyes too.  I don't even want to think about the number of eyes I have on order right now. >.<

Doll Christmas Number two

  • Dec. 20th, 2008 at 10:05 PM

We brought in the Christmas decorations the other night and of course, the gang wanted to set up their Christmas tree.  I tried to take some pics as we went along, but the light was fading, and so few turned out.
More pictures.... )

I think all that hard work was worth it, no.

It been a while...

  • Oct. 25th, 2008 at 11:41 AM

Wow, I have posted for a long while. O.O  A few things have happened since I last posted, namely the addition of a few more dolls.

From left to right: Roku (SDC Miko), Verthandi (DOC Bee-A), Zenith (Unoa Sis hybrid), Axl (Unoa L-bi hybrid) and Koume (BC Shy) in front

Sad to say, most of these names might be changing--with the exception of Verthandi.  My oldest has finally decided exactly who she is and what she likes.

Darn dolls ^_^

  • Jul. 14th, 2008 at 7:54 PM

So a few changes have happened in the dollie family of late.  I sold my little Puki due to being unable to decide on a character for him/her. I miss taking pictures of him but he did them pretty much solo since he was so small.  That and the magnets in his hands kept falling out. >.<   So now I have some money sitting in the bank, with the Feeple summer event on and the new Minifee Carl out tempting me.  And a kid delf body on the way for my floating unoa head. But that aside,  I'm wondering if I should sell my other unoa faceplates and get one of the new vampire Woosoo.  But I think I'll wait.  Parents and bank account might get angry. ^_^

Now to go shopping.  The doll family is demanding wigs, eyes, outfits.....

Squeee!

  • Apr. 10th, 2008 at 3:01 PM

So I was thinking last Sunday how nice it would be to get a shipping notice From Bambicrony right then; since in theory it takes 5 work days for something to come over from Japan or Korea by EMS.  I was pleasently surprised when I found it, then crossed my fingers that it wouldn't hit any problems. Imagine my surprise when I check the tracking today and find it's out on delivery! o.o So just after noon my package shows up.  Man, Bambicronys have small heads.  Which works well since both my minis have smaller than normal heads too.  Of course, I showed her to my Mom and she had to say "Oh, they have a kid now? They're around that age." Uh~, okaay Mom.  Thankfully she doesn't say that to me. Pics will follow, once I locate something more apporpriate for her to wear.

Hehe, oops! ^_^

  • Mar. 23rd, 2008 at 10:42 PM

So the dollies have taken a swipe at my pocket book this weekend. Bambicrony is having an anniversary event with a give-a-way doll--which I fortunately don't like--that I am splitting with someone from the city! It was amusing actually, since I posted a 'want to split' thread really late last night on DOA and she happened to be on. So I have a Shy girl that I hope to turn into Plum from Chobits; hyper and really into pink. Hmmm, better make her a bit different than Piper though, or I might anger someone. ^_^;

Money, where do you go?

  • Mar. 11th, 2008 at 5:14 PM

Sigh, there are way too many things I want to buy or do in the next year that involve largish sums of monies. First priority is summer classes that would let me do co-op next year, followed by Otakon, which I already have enough to get the plane ticket there and back. If my friend finally get his ass in gear and gets his blinking passport. Second is actual school in September, which I know will be about $2000 for the term. And if [info]chibisweetloliends up going to Japan, the best time for me to go would be either over Christmas break or May next year. And if I want to do a FCS at Sato--which would be cool and expensive at the same time--I'd pretty much have to go at Christmas. But making enough to cover the trip plus school fees, makes my head spin. *_* Darn, why must there be so much I want to do and limited dolls right now? Darn you Volks and Unoa! Too many ifs in my future.

Must resist....

  • Feb. 22nd, 2008 at 12:38 AM

Cursing around DOA is both amusing and very dangerous to my pocketbook.  Just the other day, I saw a want to split FCS with the head, wig and eyes all still availible.  Which prompted me to PM and ask. >.< Now I'm looking at the Creating Dreams website debating what I would like.  Yet the reasonable part of my brain is going "$300+ just for a head?!  And then you need to find a matching body!  Your girl cost that much by herself! No!"  Plus, I would really like to get to get a 25 cm girl soon.  So I cruise down to the face-up artists. No good, the ones I like are $50+. So I think I'll go pick a cheaper doll to amuse myself, redo my AF boy's face and think about entering the Unoa lottery. Not very posable, but nice bodies~  Maybe in the future I'll open my own face-up shop.

Yes! Let the plotting begin!

  • Feb. 6th, 2008 at 8:26 PM

So it looks like I'll be going to Otakon after all this year. One of my friends confirmed that he wants to go, which is more than enough reason for me.  We already have the money for the plane ticket in hand, so it's just a matter of plotting out what we'll do and what costumes we'll wear.

But for a dollie interlude.....

A pic left over from Christmas. Wonder if I'll ever get around to posting the rest.

Decisions, decisions.....

  • Feb. 2nd, 2008 at 8:16 PM

Well, it’s that time of year again. Not only is there too much to do related to school and work but I need to think about what I’m gonna do during the summer. First I need to find a summer job, plus decide if I’m going back to Otakon this year. I booked a hotel back in August—because everything was already filling up O.O –just in case but there are two main problems. One—too freakin’ expensive (the plane ticket costs $620 alone) which causes problem two—no one to go with. A couple of people would be available by next year though, which makes me wonder if I should just wait. But still…..Well, it’s that time of year again. Back from Otakon!

  • Jul. 25th, 2007 at 11:26 AM

And to say I had fun would be an understatement.  There were sooo many people, activities and pictures to take that I started to get overloaded.  Needless to say the next week or so will be spent uploading pics, after I finish costumes for AI-kon. Wish me luck!

A squee! moment is required

  • Jul. 14th, 2007 at 3:57 PM

Gah!  Just in the middle of talking with L-lamb on DOA, trying to buy her SDC Miko. ^_^  I hoping it all works out since she offered to get his face-up redone by sdink anyway I want.  I hope sdlink is ok with that since I love her face-ups. But on a down note, my mini boy will have to go to fund this. Still, eeeee! I might get my mischievious/mature boy. Won't know for sure 'til I see him in person.

<Edit>Ok, bought him. Now to wait and sell my other boy.

New outfits and blushed bodies

  • Jul. 8th, 2007 at 10:27 AM

So after hanging around my garage in pieces for a week or so to get her seams removed, body blushed and face-up redone; my girl is finally back together!  I learned from my mistake to not do her face-up under fluorecent lights, so I kept having to wait for it to be sunny enough to do it outside--which of didn't happen right away since I wanted it. -_-  But here she is, in a new outfit which probably cost half of what I paid for her lovely new shoes!
